Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome

Monday, May 26, 2008

Welcome.

Welcome to this, my new blog.

My name is Dawn, and I'm a PTLS (Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome) sufferer.

About 2 years ago, I did a post about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome over on my personal blog. As a sufferer I wanted to get the word out about this condition and what it means for women who suffer from this condition.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect the response I got to that post. Even today, two years on, I get regular comments from women who say thank you for sharing, and convincing them that these symptoms aren't all in their heads like the doctors told them. I get around 4 or 5 comments a week to that post, and as of now, it's ranked number 3 on Google when you do a search for Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, a tribute to the hundreds of women looking to put a name to their symptoms.

This post is to say welcome. If you are a sufferer, or know of anyone else suffering from PTLS, come say hi. We can only spread the word about this condition if we step forward and say "Yes, this is what I have!"

I look forward to saying hi to you all.

I have read a lot of comments about PTLS. I am also a sufferer of this syndrome. I read a lot of comments, but I have never taken the time to share my story for all the other women out there. You are right we need to support each other and try to report what are symptoms are so people do not think they are crazy. I spoke to my mom yesterday because I am thinking about having a reversal and she thinks my symptoms are normal. But ladies it is not. Do not let people tell you how your body feels. They are not in your body. They do not feel the pain that you and your spouse have to go through. I am planning to have a reversal done. I send a little money in every month and I will be using my husband's flexible spending account to pay for the rest. Trust me we can find a cure and if they don't pay for it. Say no to small spending and save, save, save. There is hope. I don't mean to go on and on, but I guess since I am finally talking about it I have so much to say. I would like to give some symptoms for some of the women who are out there and would like to know if they are suffering from the same thing. I have insomnia two weeks out of the month, I have heavy bleeding. I am starting to swell up after having sex and I am loosing my sex drive. I have had my tubes tied since I was 21 and I am now 33. The symptoms seem like they are becoming progressively worse. But, I have hope in the Doctor I chose. I do not want to endorse any one specifically, but, I am trusting that Dr. Berger will be able to help me feel better. I have been told he is a good doctor. I guess next year when I have it done, I will give you guys an update:) Don't Give Up you can feel Better.

Toni, thank you so much for sharing your story.

I suffer many of the same symptoms myself and have lived with this condition for close to seven years now. My sex drive is literally down to next to nothing!

I too am saving for a reversal. There is a clinic here in Vancouver where I live that do it for the same price as Chapel Hill. It's just much easier for me to have my reversal done in my hometown so that I don't have to spend an extra couple of thousand of airfares and accommodation.

I would like to hear from women who have had a tubal reversal and have their PTLS symptoms decreased/improved.

July 25, 2008 at 4:58 PM

I had my tubal done in 1996 after my son was born. At the time I had NO counseling, and felt that I had no other choice. I was a very young 26 year old, and my (now ex) husband bullied me into it.

I have been remarried now for four years, and have been prescribed Effexor XR for "depression, irritability, & mood swings" I have many of the symptoms in Dawns blog.

Looking back on everything, I realize that I have been fighting what my body has been telling me all along, and I am misreable and a nervous wreck.

I will be looking into having this reversed, I have a flex spending account, and fully intend on using it. At this point NOTHING is more important.

I want to feel normal again.

Good Luck to all out there...

Thank you so much for your blogs.. I too suffer from PTLS.. I am 25 years old and have my tubes tied for the past 2 years and since then my life has been hell.. I get my period for about 2 weeks it stops for a few days and I start all over again.. I have many other symptoms such as loss of libido, dry vagina, painful intercourse (when i do have it), pelvic pain, night sweats & hot flashes, depression, bad headaches, and not to mention the weight gain.. I just recently went to my ob and he is talking about a hysterectomy, which I really do not want.. Having a tubal has been the biggest mistake of my life..
I now am searching for a dr who does not think im crazy, and is willing to help me out..

Great useful entry. I read from a testimonial online that the best way to raise the hopes up of getting a baby is actually doing a tubal reversal (see tubal-reversal.net). You should give this thought a try. Thanks for your blog, btw..

WOW!! I had my tubal 5 yrs ago and went from no pain and regular periods to sever pain and never knowing when i would start. I had leakage from my belly button and breast and knew it was from that, but not until reading up did i realize that my restless nights and headaches and paranoid feels could be part of it too. Over the past few years things have been getting worse. I just thought it was me. Thank you for enlightening me. I really think i should see a doctor about this now.

Gah... I wish I found this sooner. I had my tubal in May and I'm sitting here cramping and trying not to puke... and its a little less than a week till my actual period, so its going to get worse. The migraines are horrendous. I guess I'm just stuck with this... seeing as I absolutely will not ever be able to afford a reversal, and given my situation... it's just not possible, period. (No pun intended.)

Thank you for the blog, though. I found it on a question on Yahoo Answers. It explains sooo much about what's going on with me.

I am so glad to find more women going through the same things i am. Had my tubal 2 years ago after the birth of my 2nd child and have had worsening symptoms since then. My doctor says that our bodies change and it is perimenopause. I have had a hard time believing that since i am only 38. I have tried so many anti-depressants and dosages that I was having bizzare and sometimes horrifing dreams, can't sleep, cramps are horrible with the periods, but excruciating with the ovulation. I have never passed clots like this except for after delivery of my 2 children. She checked my hemoglobin the last time I was in and says i am not losing too much blood... but i wasn't even bleeding then, so how accurate is that? She insists that it is normal to have these problems and alot of women suffer with this after tubals and the medical community just doesn't know why. Needless to say, i am getting another opinion with a D.O. Perhaps if the physician is treating the whole persone and not just the symptoms, we might just get something accomplished. It is so nice to know I am not alone, thank-you ladies I need you.

I had my Tubal Aug of 2008 after having my 4th child and have been suffering all these symptoms thinking I was just going crazy. I got on anti depressents after reading helpful websites like this, but they didn't seem to work and then finally got a doctor to believe me on PTLS and she gave me the pill (ortho tri cyclen) and imediatly I could tell the change I have only been taking it a week so far but I have lost 10 of the 40 lbs I gained. my kids like me more! My sex life is back! and I am not crying over everything! my body just needed to hormones! I can't believe I went that long suffering. I am glad I haven't had to have a reversal yet! because I get pregnant just thinking about sex. So I would say you all should try birth control before getting a reversal. Even if it doesn't work you are only back at square one, but if it does work it is way cheaper then a reversal and you still don't get pregnant!

Hello all...

I am a husband whose wife has much of these same symptoms. Many of you have mentioned in your posts that you are going to have the reversal completed. Yet I have found no posts from any of you who have had the procedure completed.
We are entertaining this process, and frankly it scares me. I would really like to hear some real world feed back from women who have had the procedure completed, and how you feel now that is been completed.

I had a tubal ligation almost 2yrs ago after my third child. I have not been the same physically or mentally. I have shorter periods, milk wants to come out of my left breast and I didn't even breast feed, I now have been diagnosed with endometriosis, I have severe PMS symtoms, so bad now I can barely control my rages. I am scared for my children at times and my marriage is beginning to be the last thing on my mind. I feel like I am depressed, my whole body just doesn't feel right any more. I told my doctor that I have never had problems before my tubal and she didn't say much. She probably is not allowed to. I plan on sometime in the future to get it reversed. I just want my normal self back!!!!!!! I don't want to feel like I can't control myself and that I hate my life when I know this is not the real me. My hormones are all out of whack and I want them back to normal. I feel the only way to do that is to reverse what I did. Pray for me!

Reading this blog has really unnerved me. I am 22 years old with three children. I had a tubal litigation about a month ago. Since then I have been having problems with my period. Heavier than normal, spotting in between which just never happened before last month. I decided to search to see if it was linked to my tubal and now that I have read this I realize I am experiencing quite a bit of these symptoms. As of tomorrow, I will be calling my obgyn. I wish I had of searched this before I had this done! But Thank You to all you ladies for informing others!

is a reversal the only thing i can do to rid myself of this???

April 29, 2010 at 10:52 AM

I am almost 28 years old. I have an 8 year old son, and I just had a little girl 3 weeks ago. I had a repeat c section and a tubal ligation. My doctor did not tell me any prossible problems that may occur at all, no side effects at all just to make sure I didn't want any more kids.I don't know anyone who had it done and didn't really even think to ask any questions or know what to ask. Doctors should be required to give you papers that list possible side effects, like they do with birth control pills etc. I just read this about 1 week after getting it done and now I'm very scared!!!!!! I just didn't want to get pregnant again or be on the pill again, that makes me blimp up. I don't have health insurance. I just had medi-cal for the pregnancy only, now I have none. I don't know what to do now. I already have a lot of those symptoms before the procedure, what will happen now.I also have polysistic ovary problems as well. I wish I'd have seen this first. Now I'm screwed!

May 30, 2010 at 1:15 AM

I am beyond furious. My name is Amanda and I had a tubal 2 years ago and like the rest of I've suffered mentally and physically. No cramping, but headaches and aches an pains I've never had before. On the mental/emotional side of things I am very moody, I have his rage inside of me and I KNOW that's not me. I was always such a positive and happy person. Until I had the tubal. It's a constant daily battle. At first I thought it was post partum depression, but weeks turned into months NOW years. I can't take t anymore!! I have an appointment to see my doctor in another week. I REALLY hope she doesn't tell me it's all in my head or I'll rip her a new one! As far as my rage as of late? I can't BELIEVE they isn't educate me more before having the surgery. By the way, i just turned 30, I want my life back!!!

Hello Amazing Women! I am 42 years of age, soon to be 43 in October. Our family of six lives in Europe from the Seattle, WA area. I had two dates set for the TL surgery in Berlin, Germany and both times it did not work out, the second time my 4 month Baby girl came down with the Whooping Cough so I had to cancel. After our hospital visit of almost three weeks, I ended up in Leonberg, Germany with the Zabels, a couple, one of whom is a Reike Master & Teacher. Bernd Zabel, their son, was our son Jake's teacher at the Whidbey Island Waldorf School. When she heard about my plans to have the surgery, she disagreed with my decision. Oh boy, I thought. I had been having EXTREME pressure from both of my parents to do the surgery. I then thought about having the surgery in Stuttgart near the Zabels' home. I went online at strange hours of the night to research hospitals. I found Chapel Hill in Stuttgart. I noticed they did TL reversals. I thought, well, maybe they do TLs too and they are just not advertising them. A woman responded by telling me they do not do TLs only TL reversals. I answered her back asking if she could refer me to some place that did. She told me,"I’m sorry I do not know who to recommend for this procedure. In case you have problems after the ligation (PTLS = Post tubal ligation syndrome) you may want to have it reversed. The easiest to reverse is the clip ligation (Filshie clip or Hulka clip)." I then started to research PTLS and found you. I am not going to do the TL now. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing stories. I get it and I get you!

I´ve been a victim too. I had the TL 6 months ago and started feeling depressed an anxious, the same thing: drugs for me!. Now I found this blog and realized how this Tubal ligation is a f***ing conspiracy of the pharmaceutics and doctors, insurance companies.

November 2, 2010 at 11:15 AM

I´m a victim of this PTLS too!, I believed the doctors when they said there´s no consequences after the TL. I´ve been having terrible depression and anxiety, and other terrible physical symptoms. I wish I had found this blog before getting the surgery.
Doctors say that PTLS is not real, but then why are we all feeling the same after the TL!? F*** them!

January 15, 2011 at 11:44 AM

Hello! Thank you all for your posts! I went on line to try and see if perhaps my weight gain could becaused by my TL (a freind had suggested this might be the reason) I was overwhelmed at what I found and called my mother (an O.R. nurse)in tears...I just wanted to know about my weight gain I never in a million years thought that it would explain my non-existant sex drive, my constant headaches (i have had a headache for over 1 month) my anxiety my rage..so many things. I have always had very heavy and painful periods so I think that dose not have much to do with it for me. I have suffered from deppression and anxiety before but for the last 3 years I have had no medication and had been feeling fine. I am happier with my life now than I have ever been,so why can't I feel happy? I meet the man of my drams 2 years ago I already had 1 daughter and he has 4 children so when I got pregnate I decided to have an abortion and then a TL to ensure I would not be in that sistuation again. I am 33 he is 47 we have a combined 5 kids..we don't need anymore. So July 29 2010 I had a TL it was supposed to be lapriscopic but when I woke up I was in SOOO much pain and cut from hip to hip! The DR'S office screwed up on my follow up date, and when I called to tell them that I had sever pain around my insicion they ignored me (didn't even prescribe pain killers) when I went fo a follow up 6 days after my TL and to have my staples taken out I found out that the app. should have been on Monday not Friday like the office insisted and that my staples had been in 4 days to long and now I had an infection in my insicion. (which to this day 8 months latter might I add still gets infected at the edges from time to time. So after all that horror I never thought that anything I was going through was related. I had had weight gain issues after an abotion I had as a teenager and assumed that the pain and weight gain I was experiencing were due to the 2nd abortion and that for doing such a horrible thing I deserved it and should shut my mouth. But after reading all of this....I called my OBGYN..I WANT ANSWERS!!! Why did he not warn me about this!!! I want my life back! This probem has changed my life so drastically that I don't want to get out of bed most day. I have no sex drive I have gain 40 pounds my once very low blood pressure is now through the roof. I have boughts or insommins than of fatique. I can't even get the groceries anymore cause I am always so anxiety ridden. I have no get up and go at all (this from a person who had 1 million friends and a full social calender) now I never want to leave the house. My head has hurt NONSTOP for a month!!! The happy life I had fought so hard to achive is crumbling around me...all because my insurance wouldn't pay for the IUD but would pay for the TL??!!!
Is there anything at all besides TR that can aliveate these symptoms?? Please, I will take any sugestions, I just want my life back before I manage to ruin it all!!

So i have been battling this also... I had my tubal done when i was 25, am now 28, i have been suffering this whole time and the new side effects keep coming, I cannot take it anymore! been on and off the anti-depressants and pain meds, so i met with my doctor and all they offer to help is to remove my uterus, NO! I want a reversal... It is not looking like i will get that... I also wish with all my heart that I would have know of this before having my tubes tied :'(....

March 2, 2011 at 3:38 PM

I hope my post gives hope to some of you suffering from this horrible condition....I would call myself a survivor.

In April of 2007 I gave birth to my beautiful little girl. It was my first pregnancy, and I gained 100 pounds. I never planned to have children, and by the time I was due, I surely didnt want to go through it again.

Of course when you have a baby, they always talk about birth control for after delivery. I asked to have my tubes tied. After a brutal c section and a blood transfusion, I felt I had made the right decision. Within months, I knew I was wrong. I blamed everything on post partum depression and my hormones leveling out after pregnancy, but after several months, I could no longer ignore the changes.

I went from 3 day periods before to 10 days with heavy clotting and severe pain, hot flashes, a TERRIBLE odor the week before my period, and constant sweats. This is just to name a few. I went back to my OB/GYN SEVERAL times to complain of these things, and I too was told that they were in my head, and that I was suffering from POST TUBAL REGRET. Meaning I was just upset I had done it. I sure was!

I changed doctors, and was offered birth control, and talked into a laproscopic and a D&C to "clean out my uterus" to help the clotting. This did nothing.

By the grace of God, my insurance covered the reversal of my tubes.....They were only tied for 10 months.

Within a month, my cycle went from 10 days to 6....the funky odor went away, and the clotting was less severe. But......My journey did not end here.

I am posting my story to take the issue of PTLS one step further....please google pelvic adhesions.

After a C section, Tubal ligation, Laporascopy, D&C, & Tubal reversal, I had yet another issue...pelvic adhesions. I never knew about them or what effects they could have until recently. After my tubes were reversed, I remained unable to get pregnant. The pain in my lower back remained, and the PMS was still draining. So yet another laporoscopic was done. Due to the surgeries, my tubes were still blocked, one being glued to an ovary, the other to the wall of my pelvic cavity. Since having all of the scar tissue removed, I have had no clotting with my period, I am actually able to function during my period, and all of the symptoms I acquired from the PTLS have been alleviated. My tubes are both open now as well. I know doctors will tell us all day long that having our tubes tied does not effect our hormones, but the ones like us living it know otherwise.

I feel GREAT. I can not believe it. I have had issues for 4 years now, so I had forgotten what it was like to have a normal cycle without debilitating pain. If you have had your tubes tied, and are planning to have them untied, or if you were like me and had them untied, but still have symptoms, please talk to your doctor about doing a laporoscopic to remove scar tissue after you heal. It was the best thing I could have done, and had I not, I would have just continued to think this was it for me. Having your tubes tied causes more pain and misery than it is ever worth. I hope my story helps those out there that feel like its hopeless. ITS NOT. It just caused more issues that I knew it could. and on a positive note, if you do have insurance, a laporoscopic is covered. Maybe one day, doctors will educate women better on this subject....but for now, atleast we have each other!

thank you for reading!

I have three children 6, 3 and 1. When I asked my obstretrician and doctor about the possible side effects of tubal litigation they told me there were none to worry about. Now I suffer from many of the symptoms. My doctor keeps treating me as if I have a mental disorder. Children's Aid has been called because of how tired I am. I actually forgot my son at school. My children could be taken away from me. My husband wants me on medication for mental disorders. He is abusive to me.

March 10, 2011 at 12:06 AM

oh my goodness! i got my tubes tied only one week ago, and i wasn't warned about any side effects except for the possibility of becoming pregnant again. i've been having severe hot flashes and nausea and sore breasts and mood swings and the bleeding is so heavy! the only time i've ever bled like this was postpartum. could i be suffering from symptoms of PTLS already? it seems very early after reading everyone else's comments. or maybe i'm having other complications? my doctor called me a few days after the surgery to tell me i have abnormal cells on my uterus and have to come in for a biopsy, so i'm also wondering if having the tubal is aggravating something ele i may have?

May 10, 2011 at 8:20 AM

Hi I am suffering from this after I read this, my sin is three and I'm going crazy trying to understand why I feel like this. I really want to reverse my tubes. But I can't afford it! Some one please help me. Email me at scharanalawrence@gmail.com I really need to get this done. I have seizures and the pain that I'm in just triggers my seizures. I just want to go back to the normal. If I would have none this I wouldn't have gotten my tubes tied.

i'm almost about to cry. i thought that i was going crazy. i've been too scared to tell my doctor about the movement in my upper abdomen fearing that he would think that i am a hypochondriac (i have many health issues) i have over half of the symptoms on the list. i can't believe that i finally after all this time may be on to something as to why i been having all these weird things going on with me. thank you for enlightening me.

wow it all makes sense now!
I have 26 of the symptoms in that list that Greatly affect my entire life! The rage that has come recently is horrible I can completely snap at times scaring not only myself but my whole family! Reading your post was like it was coming from me. I've endured many test trying to figure out what is wrong but the Dr's haven't been able to cone up with anything! Its been very discouraging, to know your having many problems but can't find a rhyme or reason! It's nice to know I'm not just going crazy, thank you very much for opening my eyes.

I am 31 years old and I have had my tubes tied for six years. I began having symptoms about 4 years ago. It wasn't until I researched my symptoms about online that I realized I wasn't the only one. My cycles were always normal and besides the typical pms I never experienced anything like I am experiencing now. I have constant pain in my side which the Dr said was scaring from having my tubes tied. I have horrible headaches and the mother of them all the mood swings and uncontrollable bouts of crying. At first I thought I was loosing my mind. Even today I had to leave church because I couldnt control the crying. I have been to my obgyn and they told me all they could do was put me on birth control or antidepressantsand I don't won't to take either. My next step is to see if my insurance will possibly cover a reversal. Thanks for sharing your stories!

I cried reading this blog because it does open up an unhealed wound. I have had these symptoms and have tried to have the procedure undone but alot of doctors refuse to do it because they believe that i just need to give this time to sink in. Others believe that now that i have found "Mr. right" I want to become pregnant and concieve and that thats not cause for them to do it and that is not the case, Do i have a new boyfriend? Yes i do but we are no where near the thought of having children. I have three beautiful children and still do not want any more i just want answers and a cure to my agonizing pain. Anyways thanks for the article it was amazing and truely informitive.

I just stumbled a cross PTLS and I think I might have it as well. In November 2007, I had a TL after c-section of my 2nd child. I have not felt the same since. I've had mood swings since day 1.period was very heavy and lasted weeks for awhile. I went to the doctor and they did a bunch of test and could find nothing wrong and put me back on the pill. my mood never got any better and they put me on anti-depressants. it got a little better for awhile. I haven't taken anti-depressants for awhile now and it's getting really bad. Im angry most of the time and i don't know why. my kids will do normal kid stuff and i'll get really mad and can't get over it. I was starting to think i was bi-polar. Now i only get my period once every 3 months. my daughter will be 4 in a few weeks. I can't live like this anymore.

November 7, 2011 at 9:39 PM

I had my tubes tied at the same time I had a c-section. I've had extremely sore joints and tendons, dry itchy vagina, cloudy brain, I'm just not myself. I've always been sharp but now I'm forgetful, and not as quick as before. I was also told there were no side effects if this. I was 40 when I had this done. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Hi im so glad im not alone going through the same things yall are. I had my TL in 2004 I was 25,thought I would not want anymore children being at 25 i had 5 kids. I also thought my periods would either slow down or go away when i had it done. But had my Dr. told me that my periods were going to be worst than before i would have considered something eles. I have lost All intrest in my long term bf sexually i get these really Bad headaches Cramps that last 7 to 10 days and Never on a schedule i could have 2 periods a month with only a 5 day break between them just Never like it used to be. My hair over the last 5 years is just comming out and Dry always stringy my bf thinks im going to go bald before im 35. I flexuate in my weight ive gone from 98 pounds which is normal for me im small. to 160 pounds. its Mad Crazy i have No sex drive At all which really sux cause my bf does so much for me and the way i used to show my appreciation i have no intrest in doing anymore Im cranky all the time and depressed about Everything Always Im just not my Normal self anymore. I talked to my Dr. about it it gets turned into all these other problems such as i eat n gain weight or lose weight due to depression im getting "older" now. That all my symptoms are Normal at my age I just turned 33 this Sept. Im always tired but cant sleep anymore im up till 4 Am get about an hour sleep than wake the kids up get the out to school or the bus stop by 6:15 n get my day started only to be able to do tgat for like 3 days & finally im so tired i just Crash for a day. I have anxiety now that i didnt have before. Im just feel like im living in Hell in my own body. I hate what this has done to my life. Im just glad im not alone and crazy here. The Drs. need to take responsibility and give us this kind of imformation before we make choices that not only hurt us physically, emotionally, and Mentally but also hurts our families, friends, jobs ect..They need to really hear what were saying and take us seriously cause this is Real and lives changed due to us Not getting ALL the imformation correctly. Thank you for ur comments and most of u I have the same things happening to me so thsnk u for ur stories cause really had i not just browsing being noisy looking to have it reversed, cause my long term b/f would like to have a child that is "ours" together once we're married in Jan 2012 i would have kept thinking maybe it was just me Growing Up. And now I can finally show my B/F its really Not his fault or Mine that ive lost intrest in sex this is the results of Bad Drs. not knowing all the side effects to treat us properly. Could we sue? Anyhow Happy Holidays & make sure to Tell everyone who considers doing a TL to have their husbands or B/Fs to go do it and show them this site i think they would agree to get snipped after here. Morning &Night everyone Thanx Again

I was forced into having a tubal my husband said i will give you another baby if you get a tubal. so wanting another one so bad i agreed. It has only been a month since i have had it done, but i feel like less of a woman. i feel like i'm good for nothing cause i can not have anymore children. don't get me wrong my husband is a wonderful man, he just says we cant afford anymore babies. but since my tubal i have done nothing but cry and shy away from my husband and the facial hair has already began. I can't handle these feelings. I feel so sorry for all the woman that has had these symptoms for years and do not know if i can handle dealing with this for that long. has anyone figured out what can be done. I really would love to have a TR but they are so expensive. please everyone pray for me, i need all the advice i can get .

I have had a Tubal and I have had nothing but issues since I got it done it hurts to have sex with my husband and I swell right after and when I go to the Dr about it they tell me it is not from my tubal but just in my head so I would like to get it reversed and get back to my life with my husband and not argue because of this.

I am so happy to have found this blog. I had my tubes tied a little over 2 years ago and thought I had been going crazy all this time. I am starting to have an irregular period so I starting researching it. I came along this website and I am so extatic to find out that what I have been feeling for the past couple years is normal. I am going to talk to my doctor as soon as possible to find out how to get this reversed. I am also going to do a little more research to find out if all of these symtoms subside when you have your tubel reversed.

Thank you so much for this blog. Even if it was several years ago this was posted it is still helping me today.

I have had a Tubal in 2005 after my 3rd girl, I'm 43 years old and was also not warned of any side effects. I am suffering from not feeling like myself anymore, heavy long period with clotting, spotting threw the month, bad cramping threw the month, no libido at all, all my joints ache, anxiety, pms, irrability, unexplaned weight gain no energy and feelings of doom since the tubal 6 years ago.

Before I found this information on PTLS I have learned a lot about nutrition threw East West Healing who teaches about Ray Peat who is physiologist who pioneered in scientific endocrinology and nutrition. Alot of the symptoms of a thyroid problem is similar to ptls. I have been eating a pro thryoid diet for over a year now with the knowledge of Josh Rubin from East West Healing. I have been using progest-e which is a natural not syntheic progesterone and have also just started using a natural dessicated thryoid which I learned by reading the book hypothyroidism the unexpected illness by Broda Barnes and Ray Peat. It mentions alot of the symptons in the book like pms, heavy bleeding and hysterectomies etc. It takes about two months for the thyroid medicine to start helping and I've only been on it a month but I have noticed a difference already in my period much lighter and using the progest-e I've had some relief with the hormones.

I still believe that ptls exsist and there should be something done about people being informed about the side effects. I am hoping to get some relief with thyroid and progest-e and wanted to share.

p.s. apparently getting the right thyroid medicine a natural dessicated is just as hard as proving there is ptls so if you would like to contact me you can on facebook Carole R Timmins

It feels good to know that I am not the only one but very frustrating at the same time.

I got my TL w/ my c-section 9 months ago and I have since then had nothing but problems. My periods last 19 days and are so painful and heavy along with massive clots, I cannot hardly take care of my children. I have debilitating migraines 28 days out of the month. I am so tired all the time but cannot stay asleep at night. I get hot flashes, cold chills, have no libido whatsoever, am depressed all the time even with an antidepressant. Vaginal dryness, itching, without a yeast infection. I am moody as all hell all the time and it's taking a huge toll on my entire family. My dr refuses to send me to an ob and not many obs take my insurance where i live. the ones who do only take pregnant women. I am so frustrated. I can't live like this anymore. I just want my life back

I went online tonight to see if having abnormal periods after a TL is normal... I'm not happy about what I've found out about PTLS. Why didn't my doctor talk to me about possible side effects? I had my TL after my second child was born and as my husband and I were getting older and were certain we didn't want more children. ... more accurately, we didn't want more pregnancies. My deliveries were difficult and after my second unplanned C-section I had my tubes tied. Before my TL, my periods had been irregular with lots of cramping and clots. My period did not return until after 12 months after the birth of my second child and I have had heavier bleeding than before but with less cramping. I usually had a day or so notice that my period was going to start, but now there will be a sudden gush with no warning. This is not nice! Instead of the usual cramping before hand I have sharp shooting pain in the area of my ovaries for a day or so after my period starts. This is a very different feeling than what I had before the TL. I've had three periods like this since my TL and now I haven't had my period for a month and a half. My toddler is going for his 15month vaccinations next week and if my period hasn't shown up yet I'm going to ask my Dr. about it.

tubal reversal

October 17, 2012 at 1:16 AM

Hi, My name is Anna,Im a mum of two children. I got a TL 10 years ago when I was 21 young I know, however it was the right decision at that time.
I cannot believe I haven't read about this side effect after surgery sooner :(
I've been back and forth to my doctors for years, I've visited hospitals, I've had scans, bloods taken, internals, swabs, period diaries, every test have come back normal? Normal I tell you!
I've had terrible pelvic pains, I cannot pin point when they happen as it happens randomly, when the pain reaches it's peak I actually have thoughts of ringing an ambulance! My hot water bottle does nothing and pain killers don't work, I feel like my innards are being stabbed, I also get a feeling like something swells up and my whole undercarriage is very tender even to sit down and I do get quite a bit of discharge. no way am I able to make love to my hubby when this is happening as it's very painful.
After reading all the comments I went to see a new doctor today and asked if she was open minded and to my surprise she was :) I'm now going private to have this investigated further.
I read a comment on one site with a lady mentioned about being laughed out of hospitals and I must say I totally understand how you feel, I've been told oh your young and there is nothing serious and it's normal to have period changes, what about the pain then!!! Cos I'm not lying!!!! Very frustrating at times, I know my body as I've lived with it for 31years and I know when something isn't quite right.

I am a mother of 4 children and 3 with disabilities. Adhd ,autism, and epilepsy. Post tubal ligation  syndrome  has changed my life for the worst .I feel I was robbed of being able take care of my children the way I was ment to.

In 2005  had c-section / tubal ligation. During the c-section I felt I couldn't breath I started to vomit while she was cutting. She ended up cutting my sons face close to his eye while cutting my uterus . while I heard him crying I was still vomiting and having trouble breathing while she continued to do the tubal. After the surgery  I really felt different, pain wise.
The first month of my son's life was spent in the bed I was so swollen from head to toe that it was painful and difficult to move around. My 3 month appointment, after my baby , with the obgyn I asked if it was normal to have extremely  unbearable  cramps during my period. She said maybe because your uterus  is tired after 5 pregnancies  in 6 years and said it should get better.....
It didn't , it only got worse about 1 1/2 years later  I went to the obgyn again  i told her it's only getting worse  and now it's accompanied  with blood that would at times run down my leg ,with a tampon or a pad on. She ordered a ultasound and did blood work. Everything came back normal. She said try drinking more water  and getting more exercise. I did, it Did not help.

2010 I went in  again saying "listen it's worst" now with the extreme  cramping and the blood there are times I'm so bloated I can't sit up straight comfortably. And my pms, which includes ( cramping, bloating, nasea, depression, hopelessness, fatigue, dizziness, etc)   starts about 11 days before my period and doesn't go completely  away until 2 days before my period stops, sometimes. she looked me over and said my thyroid  is a little large. She than order a ultrasound of my thyroid and a complete blood work. Three days after  they said my blood was fine. Two weeks after I received a call  from the doctor  saying she has scheduled me to see an endocrinologist because they found four nodules  in my thyroid  that need to be biopsied. After the biopsy, it was confirmed I had cancer, I was 28. After I had the thyroid ectomy and my levels  where closely monitored and controlled. For the next three years i have been  ping ponged between my obgyn and my endocrinologists because I was still experiencing  the extreme  pms and period symptoms. Recently I have been to the obgyn and she says she has done everything. Birth control ,blood level checking,  ultrasounds , vitamins, I evan stop wearing tampons. She has referred me to a Boston endocrinologists to go for further  test. I'm at a lost because I have been trying for years to just feel ok , not  3 /4 of a month I feel like crap. Three days of my period i can bearly move out the bed. I'm am currently  saving and rebuilding my creidt  so can get a tubal reversal  but at times in feels like an unachievable  goal. And a hysterectomy is just not an option  for me am only 32 and not ready to deal with no thyroid and no uterus. I just need to know that I'm not crazy and soon I will have relief. ...

It is no secret that I have a very deep and personal relationship with God. I have pushed and resisted that relationship this past year through all the bullshit I have had to go through living with Herpes but once again, God is bigger than my stubbornness and broke through that outbreak cold sore and all I had Genital Herpes. For me personally, hearing over and over how I am not good enough has really invaded my mind in the worst way possible. I completely shut down and I was just waking up like is this how life going to end this temporary herpes outbreak “fuck everybody with herpes if you know what I mean” but let's be honest here...
It is cowardly to say no to herbal medicine. It is fear based. And it is dishonest to what my heart wants. Don't build a wall around yourself because you are afraid of herbals made or taking a bold step especially when it's come to health issues and getting cured. So many young men/ women tell me over and over that Dr Itua is going to scam me but I give him a try to today I feel like no one will ever convince me about herbal medicine I accept Dr Itua herbal medicine because it's cure my herpes just two weeks of drinking it and i have been living for a year and months now I experience outbreak no more, You can contact him if you need his herbal medicine for any such diseases like, Herpes, Parkinson, Diabetes, Hepatitis, Syndrome, Cancers, HIV, Epilepsy, Infertility, and any kind of disease & Infections Love Spell,. Email..drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com then what's app.+2348149277967.... My advice to any sick men/women out there is simple... Be Always an open book. Be gut wrenching, honest about yourself, your situation, and what you are all about. Don't hold anything back. Holding back will get you nowhere...maybe a one way ticket to lonelyville and that is NOT somewhere you want to be. So my final truth...and I'm just starting to grasp this one..
